Free Rehearsal and Development Space at Belco Arts

White Light gives ACT-based performing artists and companies free access to Belco Arts’ Theatre to rehearse and develop new work.

Who it’s for

Performing artists and companies (funded or unfunded) based in the ACT.

How to apply

Applications are open anytime.
Apply using the form below with details of your activity and your preferred dates 2–8 weeks in advance so we can confirm availability.
Tuesdays to Thursdays are generally easiest to accommodate.
Bookings can be for 1–4 consecutive days with access from 8am to 10pm.

What’s provided

A large, professional, flexible, black box Theatre space to support your creative practice.
Spacious black, sprung, flat floor (approx. 15 × 15 m) with possible 4 × 12 m raised staging in place.
Heating/cooling, house lighting and a portable speaker.
GPO power (all equipment brought onsite must be tested and tagged).
Access to back-of-house areas, including green room and dressing rooms if required.
Space induction and a set of keys so you can come and go.

Conditions of use

One-off use only – no ongoing or repeat bookings.
No public outcomes – rehearsals and development only.
No commercial activity (e.g. paid workshops), though you may rehearse for later commercial performances.
No access to rig, lights or audio system, and no technical support is provided.
No promotional support, though you’re welcome to share your process with the world.
Leave the space clean and tidy at the end of your booking. Excess cleaning or damages will incur charges.
Approval is based on availability and Belco Arts capacity. Belco Arts’ decision is final.
