For our March No Place Like Home workshop, have some creative fun out and about with artist Sally Black to learn some simple techniques to observe and sketch what you see. Perfect for travel journaling and everyday drawing, you will be guided to carefully observe your surroundings and find something exciting to sketch. Sally will demonstrate some simple sketching techniques to capture what you see around you.


What to bring

Participants need to bring their own drawing materials. Basic supplies will be provided.


About Sally Black

Sally Black is a Canberra-based Visual Artist with a Diploma of Visual Art and Teaching Degree creating works on paper using watercolour paints and inks. Sally produces painterly monotypes of our local region that push towards abstraction. Sally has shown her work in a number of group exhibitions in Canberra and is working towards a solo exhibition in 2022 celebrating the landscapes in the local Canberra region.

Sally is an active member and administrator of the Global Urban Sketchers
Organisation
and has travelkled extensively both in Australia and overseas sketching the world around her in a sketchbook. An important part of Sally’s art practice is sketching on location as it connects her to a time and place.

No Place Like Home is a series of affordable, creative workshops that invite Woden and Gungahlin residents to connect with and shape the place they call home.

No Place Like Home workshops are open to all levels of artistic experience. Workshops are designed with adults in mind, but passionate children and young people are welcome too. However, please note that all children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Bookings for each workshop will open one month prior to the start date.
