Story Clusters is an exploration of the self through hand stitching and trapunto application. Created over 6 weeks the IGNITE Makers team have been guided by Mariana del Castillo to create emotive stitched illustrations and narratives, drawing on their personal journey and stories. The works evolved into individual relief components that fleshed out the final life size portrait. This process has been an organic celebration of this imperfect and ever changing sculptural medium.

About the IGNITE: Makers artists

Mariana del Castillo and the Belco Arts IGNITE: Makers team have created this life size artwork by  exploring the self through hand stitching and trapunto application. IGNITE: Makers is a hands-on creative learning experience, facilitated by professional artist tutors. Participants are supported to build new skills, develop confidence in and reflect on their own creative practice.  Workshops include drawing, painting, ceramics, craft, sculpture and writing. Mariana graduated with a BA at the ANU School of Art & Design 1989 and she works across genres. Her works are in public and private collections.
