A Stitch and a Fold
With Sue Wood
10am-4pm Sunday 30 May 2021
$160 per person
Includes all materials. Participants should bring their lunch (one hour lunch break provided), a note book and pen.
This workshop focusses on two simple techniques – the accordion fold and the pamphlet stitch – which can be used separately or together to make a wide variety of book forms. Sue Wood will guide participants in using these techniques to make a series of small books, from simple to complex.
A minimum of equipment is required, so this approach to book making is very adaptable to the home studio. While the focus of the workshop is on learning the bookmaking techniques and structures, we will consider the possibilities each book structure offers for conveying ideas and ways that you can add content to your books. Sue will bring books from her collection that illustrate a variety of approaches. At the conclusion of the workshop, you will have several simple handmade books to take home and the knowledge and skills to replicate these structures on your own.
