Postcards from Gungahlin

1 July – 1 November 2020

Postcards from Gungahlin features 142 artworks created by residents of Gungahlin and surrounding suburbs. Over the COVID-19 lockdown period, many of us spent much more time than usual in our own local area, perhaps exploring or connecting with it in new ways, or appreciating the charms of home as a result of our movements to other areas being curtailed.

This exhibition presents a diverse look at the Gungahlin region, from the perspective of those who know it best, and will bring to light many special treasures that may be little known outside their immediate area. From gorgeous sunsets by the pond, to icons of the town centre, to intimate backyard moments, the exhibition shares a glimpse of what makes the region such a special place to live.

Featured are works by artists of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, telling the story of Gungahlin. One work has been selected from each suburb by a selection panel made up of Kylie Fogherty (local artist), David Pollard (Gungahlin Community Council) and Michele Grimston (Belco Arts) and these will be printed as limited edition postcards. Below is the list of winners, who will each receive $300 for their efforts. Each of the winning postcards are available for sale through the Belco Arts Shop by clicking on the links below. Proceeds from sales will be paid to the artists.
