Our Town

Our Town: A Celebrate Gungahlin Community Exhibition

Marketplace Gungahlin

Artist Brief

Gungahlin Arts is calling for student entries to a new open exhibition, presented as part of Celebrate Gungahlin festival.

Gungahlin has more children and young people than any other region in the ACT, as well as the youngest overall population.  The region is growing and growing and we want to know what young people who live here think of the Gungahlin region and how they see the past, present and future of our town!

Entries are open to anyone 18 years or younger who lives, works or attends school in the Gungahlin region.

Artworks should be square format and respond to the theme of Our Town. Some prompts to get your ideas flowing include:

  • What do you love about where you live?
  • What are the important places close by to where you live?
  • What do you want to change for the better?
  • What do you think the future will look like in Gungahlin?
  • Do you know of an important place or moment in the history of Gungahlin?
  • What can you do (or what do you already do) to care for the community you are a part of?

Artworks will be displayed during October in conjunction with Celebrate Gungahlin and the exhibition will include a people’s choice award, with cash prizes of up to $500.

Your artwork should be square, and you can create  your picture in any two dimensional medium, including but not limited to painting, drawing, photography, digital, or collage.  All artworks will be exhibited as a 30 x 30cm, professional printed poster of the artwork.
