Our Town: Schools and Groups Entry Form

Marketplace Gungahlin

We would love for students in your class or group to respond to the artist brief and be part of this community exhibition!  All students who attend school or who are part of a group based in the Gungahlin region are eligible to enter, regardless of where their students live.

We will collect entries from you – Just make sure you have submitted the entry form below by 22 September, and that artworks are ready for collection on Monday 23 September.

Conditions of Entry – Schools and Groups

Artwork Specifications:

  • Artworks must be square, Belco Arts reserves the right to crop works that are submitted in other formats.
  • Artworks can be created in any two dimensional medium and must be labelled with the artists name, age, school and artwork title. 
  • Artworks must be available for collection on Monday 23 September between 9am and 3pm.
  • The works must relate to the exhibition theme Our Town. Works which do not relate to this theme will not be exhibited .
  • The works must be the original work of the entering artist, with no AI components or assistance.
  • The works must have been created after October 2023.

Who Can Enter?

  • Entries are accepted from anyone 18 years or under who lives, works or attends school or care in the Gungahlin region (Amaroo, Bonner, Casey, Crace, Forde, Franklin, Gungahlin, Harrison, Jacka, Kenny, Mitchell, Moncrieff, Ngunnawal, Nicholls, Palmerston, Taylor, Throsby.
  • Entrants must be under 18 at the time the artwork was created
  • There is no limit to the number of entries that can be submitted by a school or group, but no more than three works by any one individual may be submitted as part of the group.
  • Individuals whose works are submitted as part of a group may also enter works in the individual category.  The same artworks cannot be entered in both categories.

Fees, Judging and Prizes:

  • There is no entry fee to be part of the exhibition.
  • One winning entry in the schools category will be selected as the winner via a people’s choice vote.
  • Voting will take place during the exhibition, from 1-26 October 2022, and winners will be announced on Saturday 26 October 2024 at the Celebrate Gungahlin Festival
  • All members of the public are eligible to vote.  Only one vote per person will be accepted.
  • The winning entry in the school/group category will receive $500 for their school/group to spend on creative resources for students.
  • If no entries are received for a particular category, the prize for that category will not be issued.

Copyright and image reproduction:

  • Copyright for all entries remains with the artist
  • By entering the exhibition, you also grant Belco Arts and Marketplace Gungahlin the right to reproduce your image for display in this exhibition as an unframed, 30 x 30cm poster print. 
  • By entering the exhibition, you give consent to use images of your work for the purpose of media, promotional, reporting and documentation purposes relating to the Celebrate Gungahlin Festival by Belconnen Arts Centre Incorporated or Arts ACT (ACT Government) or Marketplace Gungahlin for a period of 2 years from the submission of your entry.
  • Submitting your entry does not guarantee that the photograph/ image will be used for this purpose and if it is used, copies of material will not be sent prior to publication.
  • Artists will be fully credited on all image reproductions and we will not reproduce the image beyond what has been specified above without the express consent of the artist.
  • Schools/groups are responsible for ensuring any relevant permissions to submit works have been sought from artists/guardians.

Other conditions of entry:

  • The works must not be offensive, discriminatory or otherwise hurtful in nature.  Works that are not considered appropriate will not be displayed at the sole discretion of Belco Arts
  • Belco Arts reserves the right not to exhibit works that do not meet the terms and conditions.
  • Artworks will not be offered for sale through this exhibition.
