NAIDOC in the North will be held on Saturday 12 July, from 11am-2pm at Belco Arts
NAIDOC in the North is a family-friendly celebration of the strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through songs, stories, dance, art and ceremony. The whole community is welcome at this free, family-friendly event which will also feature children’s activities and entertainment throughout the day.
The aim of the event is to encourage:
- The Canberra community to come together to celebrate and learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
- Community collaboration and participation to enhance community capacity and a sense of belonging.
- An opportunity for the community to connect with service agencies and gain information that supports their individual and family roles.
NAIDOC in the North is produced by Belco Arts in partnership with Yerrabi Yurwang Child and Family Aboriginal Corporation, Community Services Directorate, ACT Education Directorate and Northside Community Service.
Who can participate?
Applications are welcome Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artists who want to showcase their work, from all businesses which are owned or managed by Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people and from community organisations who provide services to Aboriginal people.
What is included?
- Each stallholder will be supplied with 1 trestle table (180cm x 75cm) and two chairs.
- Stalls will be located inside, in the Belco Arts Theatre Foyer and no power is available for stallholders. All other materials are the responsibility for the stallholder.
- There are no fees for stallholders, and you are welcome to sell products at your stall.
- Stallholders may also apply for additional space to run a children’s activity at their stall
Insurance
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artists and community members do not need to have their own public liability insurance to have a stall.
All other stallholders must have their own public liability insurance and a copy of the certificate of currency must be provided prior to the event. Organisations who do not submit their insurance certificate will not be eligible to participate in the event.
