More or Less is a group exhibition about the relationship between scale, quantity and the awe in the home.
Five Canberra-based artists each present two stages of work across three display houses. More is an installation that fills a space with energy, presence and awe. Bigger than its parts, its abundance pushes you back to take in its entirety. Less is a singular work from that same series given room to breathe. Its intimacy pulls you closer to find the detail within the whole.
Between unreliable natural light, awkward powerpoints, and dark interiors, the home becomes the gallery, and every room makes this case differently.
Is more more? Is less more? Or can one work hold the weight of the whole?
Curated by Brooke McEachern for Belco Arts.
About the Curator
Brooke McEachern is an early career curator and arts worker based in Kamberri/Canberra, with over five years’ experience across galleries, visual arts organisations, and the local cultural and tourism sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Printmaking) and a Bachelor of Art History and Curatorship from the Australian National University, which inform a practice grounded in material awareness, research, and contemporary exhibition-making.
Brooke’s curatorial practice centres on place-based storytelling, exploring how communication, design, and viewer experience can amplify artists’ practices. She explores ways exhibitions can welcome audiences with varied creative, artistic, and gallery literacy, fostering confidence, curiosity, and meaningful public engagement. Alongside her curatorial work, Brooke is the Marketing and Communications Manager at Canberra Glassworks and works freelance as a photographer with artists and cultural organisations.
