Opening 6pm Friday 1 April 2022

1 April – 1 July 2022

Saleha is a product designer who has graduated National college of Arts in Pakistan. Her expertise lies in designing leather shoes and bags. Now in Canberra, she is focused on jewellery design. She has her own line of contemporary jewellery, under the brand name LEHA’s. Each piece is handmade using traditional techniques and locally sourced materials.

Saleha also paints landscapes mostly sunsets. The setting sun pushes her to think about her place in this universe, gives her hope and a sense of fulfilment.

Saleha is a current member of the Migrant Women’s Art Group. The Migrant Women’s Art Group is a collective of women from all over the globe who now call Canberra home.  Each Tuesday they meet to practice their art and share knowledge and skill with each other in a welcoming and friendly environment.  The group is made up of professional artists, right through to those who have never picked up a paintbrush before.  Members encourage each other to develop their own unique artistic style and support each other on their personal creative journeys – whatever stage they are currently at.

The Migrant Women’s Art Group is part of the Gungahlin Arts program, delivered by Belconnen Arts and part of the Woden and Gungahlin Pop Ups Initiative of the ACT Government. This program supports creativity in two major town centres of Canberra and creates opportunities for community connection and storytelling through the arts. The Pop-ups program was established in 2019 and is co-delivered by Belco Arts (Gungahlin Arts) and Tuggeranong Arts Centre (Woden Arts).
