Honouring Our Old People, Country and Personal Journeys
This exhibition is a celebration of connection, growth and the strength found in culture, community and Country. Each artwork shares a personal and collective journey – shaped by Country, guided by our Old People and inspired by lived experiences filled with learning, strength and care.
Through layers of colour, symbolism and story, “Footsteps Through Country” reflects our passion and purpose to share culture and build positive connections. It honours people, plants, animals and places – reminding us that we are always learning, always growing and always connected.
It’s about walking gently, remembering proudly and sharing culture with heart – carrying it forward with strength in every step.

About the artists
Jazz and Kristal Matthews are proud Ngunawal sisters and co-founders of Wilay Designs, a multidisciplinary Aboriginal art business grounded in culture, storytelling and connection to Country.
Based on Ngunawal Country, Jazz works across digital design, murals, canvas art and workshops. Her practice is driven by passion and purpose, with a strong focus on sharing culture and building meaningful connections through art.
Kristal, based on Ngarrindjeri Country, is a visual artist, muralist, digital creator, and weaver. Her work reflects a deep respect for Country and community and she has partnered with organisations throughout South Australia and the ACT.
Through Wilay Designs, Jazz and Kristal create vibrant artworks that celebrate culture, empower others and honour the footsteps of those who came before them.

Wilay Designs is a proudly Aboriginal owned business founded by Ngunawal artists and sisters Jazz and Kristal Matthews.
Through murals, canvas works, digital designs, weaving and workshops, they share culture through art with passion and purpose.
