By using digital art-making techniques on her iPad, Jimalyn is exploring new horizons in her artist’s toolbox. These digital abstracts are a few of her recent creations. As you can see, colour is a big part of her life; colour can both excite and in certain cases soothe. She says, “colour, shape and
experimentation are the cornerstones of my art.” Jimalyn is looking forward to expanding her artistic abilities in the new and exciting digital world of creativity. She has discovered that digital art spurs her creativity and she can find inspiration almost anywhere.
Jimalyn has lived in Belconnen since 1980. She has joined several community art programs, such as Open Art Studios at BCS, classes at Strathnairn, You Are Here festival exhibitions with Nicola Lambert in Civic and several IGNITE programs at Belco Arts. Jimalyn was awarded a Highly Commended in the Student category at the Mindscapes Festival in 2012. She has also had her work displayed in shops and cafes in Belconnen, NDIA office on Northbourne Avenue, and at Canberra Airport. Jimalyn has sold a number of her works and is now looking into the digital side of the art world, while keeping her hand trained in traditional art forms.
This exhibition is part of the IGNITE program for artists living with disability, mental health issues, the d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing (HOH).
