Colour Through My Eyes
Lien To
Window Gallery, Belconnen Arts Centre
Opening: 6pm Friday 16 October 2026
Exhibition: 16 October – 29 November 2026
This exhibition expresses the beauty and colour I see in the world in spite of my vision impairment. It reflects the people who have impacted my life journey, and the places, both real and imaginary, that I keep alive in my imagination. My artwork reveals my love of bright colour and detail, with a mix of Copic marker and collage. If you look closely at my artwork, you will see that I draw the tiny squares and flowers in pencil, then individually colour them and add stickers and paper illustrations.
I invite you to enter my world of colour and enjoy the stories of my life.
About the Artist
My name is Lien To, I come from a Vietnamese background and have a rare genetic condition, Septo-Optic Dysplasia, which means the nerves that connect my eyes to my brain are underdeveloped, resulting in vision impairment. My journey with art began when I was in college and saw a book about Picasso. I was inspired by his use of colour and shape to create masterpieces. I began drawing and experimenting with colour and fell in love with the process.
Art is an escape and a solace for me, a calming safe space for self-expression.
