Jen Webb is Professor Emerita of Creative Practice at the University of Canberra. Her recent academic books include Art and Human Rights: Contemporary Asian Contexts (Manchester UP, 2016), and Gender and the Creative Labour Market(Palgrave 2022). Her recent poetry collections include Flight Mode (with Shé Hawke, 2020), and The Daily News (2024; shortlisted for the ACT Poetry Book of the Year 2025). Her artist books have been shown in exhibitions at ANCA and the Belconnen Arts Centre (Canberra), Bathurst Regional Art Gallery (NSW); the Hong Kong Biennale, the Edith Gallery (NZ); and the Turchin Arts Center in the USA. She is co-editor of the literary journal Meniscus and the scholarly journal Axon: Creative Explorations.
Dr Kerry Martin is a visual artist and researcher and current visiting fellow at the University of Canberra’s Centre for Creative and Cultural Research. Her art practice is motivated by the logic of a reparative aesthetic: an approach to art making designed to gently hold the viewer’s attention on the difficult subjects she explores. Kerry works with several techniques and she frequently employs slow, repetitive manual processes as a fundamental element of her work. Her research consistently examines questions relating to the human condition and issues of social injustice. In combining art and research she is interested in how beauty, text, the repetition of mark making, and the multiplicity of display can be a powerful form of bearing witness.
