Soft Assemblage: Bracelets and Rings
With Mariana del Castillo
10am-3pm Sunday 29 March 2020
Artist and maker Mariana del Castillo will lead a workshop focusing on fabric bracelets and rings. These bespoke objects can tell a story and allude to histories. Focusing on soft sculpture and found object construction, participants will be guided on a day long journey of bespoke jewellery making. The unique process of utilising soft sculptural techniques allows participants an experience not usually associated with jewellery making.
Over the Sunday workshop, Mariana will showcase examples of assemblage bracelets and rings. These one-of-a-kind pieces have been made from remnant fabrics and objects gleaned from the natural world. Participants will be guided through the design process and utilise simple sewing and gluing techniques to create their own wearable fabric collages.
